TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (WOOD) - A girl is recovering in a hospital after a rare bear attack Thursday night.
The incident happened north of Cadillac when the girl was running on a privately-owned trail and spotted the bear.
According to officials, the girl picked up speed, but the bear chased her down and attacked.
The girl was able to get up and take off again, but the bear jumped on her a second time.
A neighbor heard the girl's screams and scared the bear away. The girl was then flown to a hospital.
