Fresh dragon fruit is amazing! Colorful, juicy and delicious as long as they’re ripe!
Most people don’t buy ripe dragon fruit. They wonder where the flavor is, but ripeness and variety make a difference.
The more dry the outside of a dragon fruit is, the more ripe it is. When the season starts here in Florida, they often come to market with green leaves and a more fresh look.
While it may seem like these are better dragon fruits, the best dragon fruits are dry and less green on the outside.
They are more mature and will have a thinner skin and better flavor. The white inside red outside dragon fruits are less sweet than the red skin and fleshed fruits. The yellow outside white inside fruits are the sweetest of them all!
