Released by Polyphony Digital on the 23rd of December, 1997, the aim of Gran Turismo on the PlayStation 1 was to give players a driving simulation experience they have never had in a game before. After the huge success of the first game, the Gran Turismo series was continued with Gran Turismo 2, released in 1999 also on the PlayStation 1, giving players access to more cars and tracks. The franchise has continued to be a success with its many releases. The latest installment of the franchise is 'Gran Turismo Sport,' released for the PlayStation 4 in 2017.
