00:00 - Introduction
These cigars have been individually reviewed and you can learn more about them in the links above. Each were stored in a Boveda acrylic humidor with the brand's 69% RH humidity packs for three weeks prior to the video.
02:04 - Cigars Overview
First of all, the Natural has a Dominican-Cuban seed wrapper and a Mexican Sumatra binder with a very multinational filler, which consists of Peruvian, Honduran, US, and Dominican leaf. Meanwhile, the Connecticut is more reminiscent of a traditional Davidoff cigar and that uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, Dominican San Vicente binder and a primarily Dominican filler. As mentioned earlier, the Nicaragua is a puro.
03:10 - Look & Feel
Another interesting difference between these cigars is that all the robustos, that are produced in the Dominican Republic, are 5.5 by 50, meanwhile, the Nicaragua is actually five by 50. So is half an inch shorter. In terms of look and feel that of course very different because they feature different tobaccos, but the construction they're all quite similar.
The Natural is perhaps a little bit more rustic than the other two. What's quite intriguing about the Nicaragua is it's relatively pale because it's a Connecticut and so it aligns itself with the Connecticut that is produced in the Dominican Republic.
04:20 - Tasting Notes
As for the palate, none of them are particularly full bodied. The mildest of the three is definitely the Connecticut. However, the Nicaragua isn't much stronger either, and it's a mostly mild to medium experience.
Whereas the Natural, while you'd expect given its darkness a full bodied experience, is actually more medium bodied. Both the Connecticut and the Nicaragua were quite creamy throughout, whereas the Natural focus more on gourmand flavors that were quite close to a charred Oak. So some yeastiness, some spices such as cloves and cinnamon.
Meanwhile, the Connecticut lean more towards nuts, creams there's Marscapone in the first third, there's some butterscotch in the final third, there're some aromatics such as charred bay leaf. However, the Nicaragua, it also had this aromatic presence with smoked savoury, but it also had a little bit of citrus grapefruit.
08:15 - Overall Experience
In terms of value, these are all very similarly priced as well. You're looking at about $8, $8.50 for a single, which is excellent value, especially given that two of the blends in my hand are produced by a Davidoff Cigars.
In terms of occasion, I would probably use them at different times of day, different seasons. The Connecticut is probably more of a morning cigar, the Nicaragua is much more versatile, but I would say early afternoon, post-lunch digestive and the natural would probably be an evening cigar.
Nevertheless, in terms of the occasion itself, I would be reluctant to take these to a formal event as they do have very jazzy bands that may seem a little bit lowbrow given the circumstances that you're in.
Nevertheless, you can really enjoy these with a couple of mates around a barbecue, you can smoke them casually. And to be honest, if you take them to an event like a party or a wedding, this would be really fun. So it would be a great idea for those.
08:43 - Scoring
As for the overall scores of the cigars, using the Bespoke Unit Cigar Formula, they are very close. The overall winner is the Connecticut with 87 out of a possible 100, trailing just after it is the Nicaragua with 86. Meanwhile, the Natural scored 85. Indeed, these are cigars that are all very good, but are best suited, perhaps the different palates, different preferences, different occasions as well and different pairings.
