The Aircraft Research & Design Centre (ARDC) of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has recently issued a tender for the supply of raw materials required for the fabrication of external composite tools. These tools will be utilized for the manufacturing of composite parts for the centre fuselage of the LCA AF MK2 (Light Combat Aircraft Air Force Mark 2).
This comes shortly after ARDC's previous tender for the supply of bearings necessary for the Canard control surface of the LCA AF MK2 aircraft.
The LCA AF MK2 program has already received clearance from the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), and HAL has been granted 10,000 crores for the production of four pre-production aircraft. These aircraft will be utilized for developmental flight testing purposes. The first flight of the LCA AF MK2 is anticipated to take place by late 2026, with the rollout planned for 2025.
Currently, the LCA AF MK2 is undergoing air intake test certification in France at the esteemed S1MA facility operated by Onera, France's aerospace research agency. This certification process is a crucial step in ensuring the aircraft's performance and safety.
