The artist’s color wheel is used in almost all courses and books on color theory for art or design. This diagram was proposed by painter Johannes Itten in 1961. However, it is wrong in more than one way.
For example, it suggests that if we mix the primary colors Red, Yellow and Blue, we produce the so-called secondary colors Green, Orange and Purple. We show that this is simply incorrect.
