In this video, I explain about the technique of playing Carnatic Music Gamakas on the violin in the AMS style.
Here we FOCUS on the LEFT HAND's intricate movements and handling.
While we are in the early stages of LEARNING to play Gamakas, we do not use the bow to make sound - this lets us focus on the nuances of the left hand's intricate work and get a hang of the movements. Once we get comfortable and grasp the handling, we introduce bowing to produce the sound of the Gamaka. Trying to use the bow before you get that grasp will make you and others around you feel uncomfortable with the sounds you make :-)
