Top Tips For Alton Towers During School Holidays 2023
The main 2023 summer season at Alton Towers Theme Park is well underway, with some changes to the ride line up including the re-opening of Nemesis Sub Terra and the brand new Curse at Alton Manor plus Nemesis will be closed for 2023 while the Staffordshire theme park undertake a long refurbishment program - are the tried and tested methods of getting around the park, ensuring the shortest queue lines and getting on the most rides to maximise your day still working in 2023?
To put theory to the test I visited during the easter School Holidays, a usually peak period for the resort to put my experience to the test, this is a video diary of how I got on navigating around the park and how many rides we managed to get on without using fastrack.
In order to maximise your day at Alton Towers, we recommend the following tips;
Expect that you’ll have to queue at some point - Alton Towers is always popular its the nature of the beast, even in the school holidays as today its manageable with a little planning.
Download the official app - it shows you current wait times to guide you to a section of park, find out if rides have re-opened and its also your park map.
Maximise your available time - make sure you are ready to go the second the park opens and stay until closing. As long as you’re inside a queue at closing time you get to go on the ride, no matter how long the queue is, they don’t close lines early at the Merlin theme parks.
Consider a Merlin Annual Pass - if you’re visiting three times or more it really can be a big saving, its going to give you flexibility to come back more often, like today I’m not doing Rita or 13 but thats ok I’ll get on them next time!
The Merlin Annual Pass covers all the UK Merlin attractions including LegoLand, Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures, Blackpool Tower and Sea Life Centres.
You also get free car parking with valid annual passes, saving £7 per visit, and 20% discount on food and merchandise inside the park which makes things a lot more affordable.
I used my annual pass to book a hotel stay at a fantastic rate, which meant I could come through the hotel guest entrance this morning, which is at the back of the park next to the Galtaica roller coaster, which can save a lot of walking!
I hope these tips were helpful, Alton Towers is an amazing special place, to get the most out of your visit do a little research, so you’re prepared manage those expectations, expect a queue at some point and have an amazing day as the rides here are incredible
What are your tips for having the best day at Alton Towers?
