Home Bay on Jedediah Island Marine Park's doing a 360
from N49 29.834 W124 11.637
I camped here coming and going into the Jarvis inlet.
I have been here a few other times as well.
My Advice "BRING ALL YOUR OWN WATER!" There is no water that you want to drink on the island", its contaminated by the goats and sheep that freely wander from sea to summit of the island.
at high tide there is a sandy beach to land on, after that, mud flats, so pick high tide to arrive. there is a pit toilet available, don't just go anywhere!
some camping spots across the bay at N49 29.963 W124 11.725 in the field to the right of the house, no toilet there thou close by. its a bite of a walk. the goats are supposed to have been left behind as food stock by the Spanish 400 or 500 yrs ago when they controlled the area. the Island became a homestead in 1885 with a few owners until Al and Mary Palmer sold it cheap to Parks Canada so i could become a park and it became a park in September 15, 1995 after 2 years of fundraising in which The estate of the late Daniel Culver (a famous Canadian mountaineer who climbed Evenest and K2 before dying) contributed $1.1 million to Jedediah’s preservation among others!
its a cool place, during the summer months when the cruise ships are motoring about they travel between the islands, so spend some time on the hill east of the house N49 30.094 W124 11.726, awesome view of the bay and the ships passing by worth a visit. like the penguins say, "Smile and wave boy, smile and wave!" as they pass by. if you're out kayaking, watch out or that 1 to 1.5m Wake off them ships!
there is a small trail network on the island, and home bay has bioluminescent algae so play water and watch the glow, Enjoy!
