ABOUT MARTINUS
Martinus (1890-1981) was born in rural Denmark. In 1921, after minimal schooling and a series of unskilled jobs, he began writing his books and drawing his symbols, all of which can be seen as a major contribution to spiritual science. He continued to write for 60 years until his death in 1981. Martinus refers to the event that triggered his spiritual work in Livets Bog (The Book of Life), vol. 1: "The cosmic baptism of fire through which I had passed ... had thus released in me entirely new sensory abilities, abilities that enabled me – not in glimpses but on the contrary in a permanent state of awake day-consciousness – to apprehend all main spiritual forces, invisible causes, eternal world laws, basic energies and basic principles behind the physical world. The mystery of existence was therefore no longer a mystery to me."

The seven volumes of Livets Bog (The Book of Life) together constitute Martinus' main work. Livets Bog contains cosmic analyses that describe in depth the eternal structure, principles and laws of life. Martinus supplemented his main work by writing The Eternal World Picture, Logic, On Funerals, 28 shorter books, about 200 articles and several posthumous works. The Eternal World Picture, vols. 1-6 present his cosmic analyses in a concentrated form and are accompanied by 100 symbols that are intended to give the reader an easily accessible overview of the cosmic structure of the universe. Martinus's works are collectively entitled The Third Testament.

His works show there to be no death in the absolute sense. Death, as we know it, is seen as a “second birth”, a transition to a life in a spiritual world where we experience life in a spiritual body until it is time to incarnate in flesh and blood again. Life, death and rebirth are seen to be a never-ending cycle of eternal life.
