The newly announced Open Service Broker API is a collaboration between Cloud Foundry Foundation and Cloud Native Computing Foundation, based on a shared vision of the simplest, most elegant solution for developers, ISVs and SaaS vendors. This type of collaborative project helps to expand the ecosystem, enriches the developer experience and exemplifies the collaborative, forward-looking ideology of open source.

In this keynote address, Abby Kearns will take us through the original implementation of the API, the revelation of its v2 iteration and how the excitement in the Cloud Foundry community and subsequent proliferation of service broker implementations spearheaded large cloud providers (such as Google, Microsoft) to expose native platform capabilities via the API. Due to the exploding interest in integration with Cloud Foundry and adoption of the Service Broker API, the Foundation created this cross-foundation working group to leverage this technology to benefit the industry as a whole.

In the spirit of open source, the Cloud Foundry Foundation has worked in conjunction with multiple organizations to reach as many developers as possible in a benevolently expanding ecosystem. This is the best-possible use case for the proliferation of foundations in the past 24 months. These organizations exist to collaborate and solve the technology industry’s hardest problems.

About Abby Kearns
Abby is a true tech veteran, with an 18 year career spanning product marketing, product management and consulting at a mix of Fortune 500 and startup companies. As the first fellow at Cloud Foundry Foundation and VP of Strategy, Abby was responsible for structuring and executing operational and strategic initiatives, as well as leading the User Advisory Board and Industry Special Interest Groups. Prior to joining the Foundation, she was part of the Product Management team at Pivotal, focusing on Pivotal Cloud Foundry. Previously, Abby led a Product Management and Product Marketing team at Verizon focused on cloud services. In her free time, Abby enjoys posting up at her local coffee shop, indulging in food and wine, and spending time with her husband and son.
