Описание: The Patuca River is located in the Honduran Biosphere Reserve. Isolated towns and villages along the river are home to the Miskito, descendents of afro-caribbean populatons, as well as the Tawahka, a rapidly shrinking indigenous group who depend upon small-scale agriculture (including rice, corn and cocoa), as well as traditional hunting. Their territory and their way of life is under constant attack from encroaching "mestizo" cattle farmers and lumber interests.
