It’s such a beautiful, haunting, and underrated sci-fi film. It's such a shame it didn't get the recognition it deserved at the time.

Set fifty years into the future, the Sun is dying and Earth’s last hope lies with the crew of the Icarus II, a team of astronauts and scientists sent on a dangerous mission to reignite the star with a massive nuclear payload. What begins as a mission of survival turns into a gripping exploration of humanity, sacrifice, and obsession as the crew faces both cosmic and psychological threats.

Directed by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Slumdog Millionaire) and written by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation, 28 Days Later)), this movie brings together an incredible cast: Cillian Murphy, Rose Byrne, Chris Evans, Michelle Yeoh, Hiroyuki Sanada, Benedict Wong, Mark Strong and Cliff Curtis. The visuals, the score by John Murphy, and the slow build of tension are absolutely stunning. He’s also behind the music for 28 Days Later and Kick-Ass (among others). That epic Adagio in D Minor theme might be one of the best film tracks ever made.
I can’t believe more people don’t talk about this film! It deserves way more love than it gets.

Fun fact: Dr. Brian Cox was a scientific consultant on this film. He worked with the cast (especially Cillian Murphy) and helped shape how the film imagined solar physics and Q-ball theory! 😀
