Learning Disability Hate Crime DVD

Описание: Your Voice Counts, Northumbria Police, MENCAP, Nexus, and self advocates with learning disabilities are all members of South Tyneside Council Community Sub Group. They work hard to make life safer for people with learning disabilities.

It was decided to make a short film that could be used as a training tool. The cast would be made up of self advocates and school children and the project would be supported by the Community Group.

Ten secondary schools were approached and staff from Boldon School gave the project their full support. "Shoot Your Mouth Off" film company was hired to work with the cast on writing and producing a film script.

The DVD contains a 'Making of', which shows behind the scenes footage including script writing, planning and rehearsals. It also includes an interview with a person with learning disabilities about his own personal experience of Hate Crime.

The 'Talking Points' section of the DVD is designed for trainers and group workers. It shows 4 examples of Hate Crime. It is hoped these will stimulate group discussion on Hate Crime and public safety.
