These sweet buns are soft and delicious, they will disappear from your table very quickly. They are made with white spelt flour (please note that spelt flour DOES contain gluten). It took me a while to perfect this recipe. Baking with spelt flour is not difficult but you need to adjust the volume of liquid used in the recipe. These buns are the best eaten on the day that you bake them, but they are also delicious toasted the following day. They are also perfect to use in a bread and butter pudding.
Ingredients:
700g white spelt flour
3 tsp dry yest
120g caster sugar
300ml warm full fat milk
2 eggs + 1 egg for egg wash
80g sultanas
100g soft unsalted butter
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp vanilla extract
