Launched out of J Street Marina after a major storm to see if the fish would still play — and it turned into a true post-storm grind.
The water was calm, the bite was slow, but persistence paid off. I managed to land two spotted bay bass, both on the Ned rig — one while trolling and one on a standard retrieve. On top of that, I had an unreal encounter with a green sea turtle that surfaced right in front of my kayak, and watched another angler hook up on a spotted bay bass just yards away.
This session is a reminder that even on slow days, San Diego Bay can still deliver moments worth chasing.
