Rolls Royce Trent 700 high power run
What you are witnessing here is a high power run. This engine was newly installed and it needs to be tested at almost full capacity of its power.
Maintenance technician will secure the aircraft at a blast fence and install special high power chocks at the main gear wheels, to keep the aircraft from moving.
After properly going through all the check lists and safety procedures they will proceed to bring both engines online. In this case the #2 engine is being tested.
In order to keep the balance of power being produced, the opposite engine needs to be at around 40-50% power , in order to keep the aircraft from loading up one side with all that stress.
They will allow the engines to warm up and stabilize, and bring them equally up to power, constantly monitoring the engine parameters and personal on ground watching for anything out of the ordinary.
Once stable the engine that needs to be test will be pushed further into higher power to ensure maximum performance and operation.
If you watch closely you’ll see the sheer power of this beautiful engine. It’s literally trying to twist itself off the pylon. You can see how it’s warping and bending, as it try’s to keep up with the centrifugal forces. But not to worry, it’s designed that way, the pylons and the engine mounts actually float and move around to compensate for such stresses.
