Senior Economic Officials, delegates from ASEAN Member States, and external partners engaged in a discussion during the ASEAN Capacity Building Workshop on Strategic Trade Management (STM), held back-to-back with the ASEAN Senior Economic Officials Meeting (SEOM) Retreat 2026 in Boracay, Aklan, on December 12, 2025.
Spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Strategic Trade Management Office (STMO), the event gathered leading experts and partners across the region to discuss strategic trade management as a potential new cooperation area for ASEAN.
This workshop aims to raise awareness of the role STM systems play in preventing the proliferation of sensitive goods and technologies, promote the importance of a secure trade environment in protecting national and international security interests and fostering economic resilience, ensure compliance with international norms related to trade and security, and highlight the benefits of STM from ASEAN Member States in securing the global supply chain through STM compliance.
