Roots adjust direction in real time, navigating rocks, obstacles, and water sources with remarkable accuracy. Studies show roots can even respond to sound vibrations that resemble flowing water.

Healthy root systems depend heavily on soil conditions. Compacted soil restricts oxygen flow, which roots need to survive. Deep watering encourages strong root development, while shallow watering weakens stability. Mulching helps regulate moisture, temperature, and beneficial microbial activity. Exposing the root flare prevents decay and disease.
