If your job requires countless hours seated at your workstation, you will want to perform hip stretches at work. The muscles become stiff and tight with prolonged sitting and lack of movement. Performing hip stretches at work will help maintain flexibility into those muscles, increase blood flow to the area, and help with symptoms of tightness and soreness.
Seated hip stretches at work are the easiest to perform. If the gluteal muscles are tight, make a point to perform the seated hip stretch several times throughout the day. Another alternative is the standing hip stretch at work. Some patients prefer this stretch because it offers a little bit more variability in the direction of the stretch.
Even if you are really good at stretching daily, before and after activity, etc. it is important to continue to stretch the hips throughout the day. The longer you sit the tighter you will get!
