There are a significant number of misconceptions that exist about podcasting ranging from it taking a really long time to launch a podcast to the podcast market being oversaturated and so on.
Here are the most common misconceptions about B2B podcasting:
1️⃣ Everyone Has a Podcast. Absolutely not true. The reality is your social media feed is likely filled with people who have the largest followings which drives the most engagement. Those people or companies may have a podcast, but the majority of companies don’t. In fact, it’s still a blue ocean for podcasting.
2️⃣ Grab a Mic and Start Talking. Please don’t do this…your show won’t be successful. A podcast requires a thoughtful strategy and show flow which means you must have a plan before you record your first episode.
3️⃣ It’s Easy to Start and Easy to Maintain. Launching a podcast may seem easy, but it takes a significant amount of effort long-term to maintain and evolve the podcast. Plus, most podcasts take a while before they start driving results, and oftentimes podcast hosts and companies aren’t patient enough to wait for these results. If you’re going to start a podcast, then you have to be committed to the long-term effort required to maintain the show.
