Описание: Karen Read has already said she is not afraid of jail. I think she will in fact be frightened half to death if she's sent to prison though for any significant amount of time. Very few prisons for women in MA for violent offenders. She could very well become a cellmate with a woman who murdered her 2 children in a half ass voodoo ritual.

It's for that and other reasons such as Karen's statements in her documentary and her defense's evolving strategy that makes me think and feel they're trying to get her sentence reduced to manslaughter. Expect them to go extremely hard after her blood alcohol concentration. Why? In MA we have Melanie's law. That sets minimum sentencing for DUI resulting in death of 5 years. No police officer pulled her over drunk. She said she was drunk, couldn't remember the night before but there was no record of it at 12:30 or so when she pureed her ex boyfriend.

Even leaving the scene is questionable if it can be suggested or believed she did not know the extent of his injuries. I know that's far fetched but that's the game they're playing. Par used to be around 2.5 years for killing a pedestrian. Hard to believe but the drunk lady who killed Melanie only got 2.5 years. Many others such as Michael Blanche only got 2.5.

If it is proven that she was drunk and killed him but not intentionally it starts at 5 years, leaving the scene another 2.5. Manslaughter goes up to 20 years.

IMO that is their defense, trying to avoid a Murder II conviction, which is life , possibility of parole after 20 years.
