Victoria is set to become the first Australian state to introduce a treaty to Parliament after generations of work from Indigenous advocates and negotiations. The Victorian Treaty will include curriculum changes requiring students from prep to year 10 to be taught about the harm of colonisation and injustice. The new body will receive an annual budget of more than $70 million and become operational by July 1 next year, despite Coalition opposition.
