God is more concerned with our CHARACTER than our COMFORT.

James 1:2-3 NIV Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

1. Trials are TESTS.

Proverbs 17:3 NIV The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart.

James 1:3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

2. Tests have a PURPOSE.

James 1:4 NIV Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Romans 5:3-4 NIV Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.

There is a PURPOSE in your PAIN.

James 1:5 NIV If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

3. Tests DRIVE you to GOD.

Instead of asking God to RESCUE you, try asking God to TEACH you.

James 1:6 NIV But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt…

4. Tests GROW your FAITH.

James 1:6-7 NIV But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double- minded and unstable in all they do.

James 1:12 NIV Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

5. Tests provide REWARDS.

Faith can’t fix what you won’t face. Until you face it faith won’t fix it.
