New Immigration Law 2025 | What Foreigners in India Must Know

Описание: 🔹 What is the Immigration & Foreigners Act, 2025?
The Government of India has brought a new comprehensive immigration law by merging 4 older legislations – giving India a single framework for managing visas, foreigners, and border security.

🔹 Key Highlights of the Act:
1️⃣ Replaces Passport Entry Act 1920, Registration of Foreigners Act 1939, Foreigners Act 1946, Immigration Carriers’ Liability Act 2000.
2️⃣ Establishes a Bureau of Immigration for visa, entry, transit, stay, and movement of foreigners.
3️⃣ Mandatory foreigners’ registration on arrival.
4️⃣ Hotels, universities, hospitals & institutions must report details of foreigners.
5️⃣ Airlines & shipping companies must share advance passenger data.
6️⃣ Police can upload biometric + movement data to a national portal.
7️⃣ Penalties: Fake passport/visa = 2–7 years jail + ₹1–10 lakh fine.
8️⃣ Relief Clause: Minorities (Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis) from Afghanistan, Bangladesh & Pakistan arriving before 31 Dec 2024 are exempt from penal action.
