Hiking Point Dume Nature Preserve and Mavic Pro 2 Drone video of a Gray Whale...Pacific Ocean beaches.
The whale was extremely close to shore and was either playing or rubbing itself on the bottom of the ocean. It looked like it was a juvenile. I estimated it to be about 15-20 feet in length.
Point Dume is a great place to check out. There is plenty of beach to keep you cool in the summer and you can hike around the nature preserve. The trails and lookout area up on the bluff is in the process of being rebuilt and looks great. Not that it is a good idea but several people were climbing the rocks while I was there.
You can watch for whales from the platform I launched my drone from. It is high enough to provide a good view.
The Nature Preserve & Beach is not dog friendly (POSTED) and you are restricted from fishing in the area as well (POSTED).
