Learn how federal and state laws protect your disabled student’s right to receive a free and appropriate public education. During this workshop, special education attorney Andrew Meltzer will provide an overview of your child’s legal protections – including the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education) Act and the Individualized Education Plan (IEP), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1974 and 504 Plans, and New Jersey state-imposed rules, regulations, and policies. Also covered will be steps that you can take if you feel that your school district is not meeting your child’s needs and how to handle disputes with the school district.

The Autism Resources Fair, founded in 2017, is a yearly event aiming to bring state and local resources to our community members. The Ocean County Library’s goal is to provide resources for all ages, caregivers, and educators through programming, speakers, workshops, and more – all provided by experts in the field.
