One of the great things about doxy PEP for me is that it allows me to be proactive.
Doxy PEP is the use of prescribed antibiotics to reduce the risk of acquiring certain bacterial STIs. You take doxy pills within 72 hours after a possible exposure, and it greatly reduces the risk of acquiring syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia.
I still get regular STI screenings but knowing that I have the option to take doxy PEP after a possible exposure to reduce my risk of acquiring an STI is definitely empowering.
