The British aircraft carrier Invincible was on Tuesday (24/02)
following a pre-arranged timetable and preparing to leave the
Gulf.


SHOWS:

SOT (in English) with Navy officer, saying: "If we get an
agreement out of New York that sticks and UNSCOM remains engaged
to conduct this very important work and follow on the last seven
years, which has yielded very positive results, then I think we
will all feel this has been exceptionally worthwhile and the
strategy, whereby a diplomatic effort has been backed up by the
use of military force, underpinned by the use of military force
we feel we have made a satisfactory contribution.";

SOT (in English) with member of deck crew, saying: "It's hard
work, especially missing Christmas and eveything like that, but
in the last few weeks it's not been that bad, just waiting to
get home really";
SOT (in English) with member of deck crew, saying: "To be
honest we don't know if it's slackened off yet, it could be just
another one of his (Saddam's) tricks, we're just waiting to see
what they say in New York tonight. So, we'll just keep going
until we are told to do otherwise.";
SOT (in English) with member of deck crew, saying: "Basically
we are all glad that we haven't had to go in and do any damage
and I think it was obvious that he was going to come round. He
was just going to push and push and push. Hopefully this will be
it now and it will be all sorted and he will have to let people
in to inspect his palaces.";
