Doi Mae Salong and Doi Tung, Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand.

Описание: The far northern area of Thailand is a wonderful region which has been under-visited by international tourists in the past. That is now changing as Chiang Rai comes into its own as a travel destination.
Doi Mae Salong is a picturesque region north-west of the city. The main centre, Santi Khiri Village, has a small town ambience with several interesting attractions, Chinese and hill-tribe people, small hotels and guesthouses, and restaurants with native Chinese dishes. The surrounding hilly country has scattered small villages and wonderful tea, coffee and fruit tree plantations.
Doi Tung further to the north, has much interest but the highlight is the royal villa which belonged to the grand mother of the present Thai king. You can see inside the villa but the attraction to many is the wonderful garden surrounding the building.
