Shaykh Husain A. Sattar, MD is a scholar whose thirst for traditional Islamic knowledge led him to study with scholars in the United States, Syria, and Pakistan. Alongside his studies, he also spent decades developing spiritually under the guidance and training of a leading authority in the science of Islamic spirituality, Tasawwuf, which culminated in formal authorization (ijazah) in this field in 2001. Professionally, Shaykh Husain is an Associate Professor at the world-renowned University of Chicago, where he is a practicing surgical pathologist who specializes in breast cancer. His academic contributions to medical education, in particular, have made him beloved to medical students worldwide.
