Ginette Doyen (also spelled as Jeanette Doyen) was a French pianist. She lived from 1921 to 2002. In her career, she played primarily in Europe and did not make many commercial recordings. This was in part due to incurring a problem with her thumb in the early 1970s that prevented her from continuing her performance career.
Ginette Doyen's style has been described as "clarity, modesty and refined passion." This is very much evident in this very fine performance of the four Chopin Ballades. Unlike many performers today, the interpretations have a natural grace and are devoid of extravagant showmanship.
