Blackford Rail Freight Yard was introduced to provide sustainable transportation for Highland Spring Group and reduce their carbon footprint by decreasing the amount of HGV’s travelling through the local village by 40%.
Highland Spring Group and their project management consultant and designer, WSP, split the construction phases for the project. Luddon Construction were awarded the civils sections of the yard and Story Contracting were appointed to carry out the rail elements of the works.
