The RFD (Rate of Force Development), commonly known as explosive force, is a term that we hear more and more frequently, but what does it mean? The Rfd is the capacity that determines the time it takes to generate a given force and in climbing it is mainly manifested when we receive a hold with our hand. In these events, the time it takes to generate the necessary force to stay off the grip is decisive. The rfd is a complex quality to analyze and also has multiple variables: the maximum rfd, the average rfd, the rfd for a certain percentage of the FIM (maximum isometric force) etc... In this chapter I try to explain what this rfd consists of, how it is analyzed and what its manifestations entail. In the next episode I will show you which exercises are stimulated and why, as well as the graphs of the different exercises.
