"الاستديو العابر" هي مبادرة من تأسيس آية مسمار تتضمن برنامج إقامة فنية تعليمية لطلاب مشاريع التخرج في العمارة. يستهدف البرنامج الطلاب الذين يعملون على تطوير مشاريع تخرجهم، ويوفر لهم مساحة للتبادل المعرفي خارج حدود التعليم الجامعي التقليدي، وللتفكير النقدي في فن العمارة على مستوى البحوث والتعلم. تمّت استضافة النسخة الأولى من هذا البرنامج في مساحة المختبر خلال صيف العام الماضي، حيث ركزت المشاريع المختارة على صلتها بفلسطين جغرافيًّا وموضوعيًا، في ضوء الإبادة الجماعية المستمرة، وفي محاولة للاستجابة للظروف المكانية والسياسية والاجتماعية الخاصة بالحالة الفلسطينية اليوم. تضمن البرنامج عقد عدة ورشات عمل وجلسات تعلم وتبادل معرفي خلال فترة الإقامة في دارة الفنون، وبتيسير من المعمارية والفنانة صبا عنّاب والمصممة متعددة التخصصات والباحثة جمانة بوازير.

شارك ضيفا النسخة التجريبية من هذا البرنامج، عبدالله طبازة ولين أبو نجم، تفاصيل مشروعيّ تخرجهما ورحلة تطويرهما على مدار العام الماضي، كما تطرق اللقاء إلى طرق إنتاج المعرفة المعمارية ودورها في معالجة الوقائع المعقدة والمتشابكة لمثل هذه المشاريع، وفي استحداث منهجيات نقدية للتصميم والبحث.

عبد الله طبازة هو طالب دراسات عليا في التصميم المعماري، يبحث مشروعه الذي يحمل عنوان "غزة-جرش، غزة-جرش" في مواضيع النزوح والهوية، حيث يستكشف المشروع كيف يتفاعل سكان مخيم جرش الذي انشىء عام 1967 مع بيئتهم في ظل التهميش الذي يتعرضون له. على الرغم من التدخلات المعمارية التأملية، يكشف عبد الله من خلال مداخلاته المعمارية ضمن هذا المشروع عن سرديات تتحدى النظرة المبسطة لمفهوم النزوح باعتباره تجربة ترتبط بما قبلها وما بعدها.

لين أبو نجم هي طالبة دراسات عليا في التصميم المعماري، يستكشف مشروعها الذي يحمل عنوان "أرض التحولات" في مواضيع الذاكرة والأرشيف والترميم. حيث يقدم المشروع منهجية عمل مبتكرة في تتبع التاريخ العاطفي والمكاني لمخيم جباليا في غزة، وإعادة تصور دور الهندسة المعمارية فيه كوسيلة نصية ومكانية لتمكينه وتعزيز مرونته، وذلك بالتعاون مع أحد المقيمين السابقين في المخيم.

The Extraterritorial Studio, led by Aya Musmar, was a teaching residency hosted at the Lab in Darat al Funun. Designed for architecture thesis students, the residency provided a space to move beyond traditional university settings, fostering critical approaches to architectural research and learning. Focusing primarily on Palestine, the studio engaged with questions of positionality and relationships across geographies, while reimagining methods of inquiry to address Palestinian spatial, political, and social conditions across territories. The program included workshops and exchanges with practitioners such as architect and artist Saba Innab, and multidisciplinary designer and researcher Jumanah Bawazir.

Abdullah Tabaza and Leen Abu Najem, participants in the pilot iteration of the studio, showcase their thesis work developed over the past year. Their presentation delves into their processes of engaging with complex and contested realities, offering reflections on their critical methodologies in design and research.

Abdullah Tabaza, a graduate student in architectural design, investigates displacement and identity in Gaza-Jerash, Gaza-Jerash. This project explores how residents of the 1967 Gaza refugee camp in Jerash, Jordan, navigate marginalization and engage their environments. Though speculative architectural interventions Abdullah uncovers narratives that challenge the simplistic view of displacement as a before-and-after experience.

Leen Abunajem, a graduate student in architectural design, examines memory, archives, and restoration in Metamorphosing Grounds. Through collaboration with Jeem, a former resident of the 1948 Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza, Palestine, the project devises a creative methodology to trace the camp’s emotional and spatial history, reimagining architecture as a textual and spatial medium for resilience and empowerment.
