THE ISLAMIC STATES OF AMERICA is an experimental standup comedy film that moves like a poem and strikes like a manifesto. Written and performed by Azhar Usman, directed by Paul Elia, this is not a typical comedy special; it is anti-media media, a deliberate act using spectacle to expose spectacle.

LOGLINE
Underground, Indian-American Muslim comedian Azhar Usman fearlessly skewers the modern world’s most sacred cows in this intimate, black-and-white standup comedy film shot in a nondescript blackbox theatre in his hometown of Chicago.

THESIS
The United States now suffers from a profound crisis of meaning. The modernist project–rooted in materialism, secularism, and relentless self-worship–is imploding, yet hypernormalized. We are living through the collapse of epistemology itself: facts dissolved into narratives, identity severed from essence, language stripped of coherence. In such a void, humanity seeks not information, but revelation.

Enter Islam. Not as a foreign intrusion, but as a long-awaited return. It offers a historically preserved scripture, based on a documented miraculous experience, with a verifiable, living chain of transmission: a holistic civilization of theology, law, spirituality, and ethics—all anchored in Tawhīd, the absolute oneness of God. It dignifies the soul, disciplines the ego, and binds the human being back to purpose. It addresses the race question by transcending biology; it solves the class question by mandating charity; it resolves the existential question by reminding human beings that they are known, loved, and accountable.

The coming wave of American conversions will not be the triumph of a tribe; it will be the healing of a civilization. Not conquest, but alignment. Not domination, but surrender to Truth.
