Alberto Spencer, an Ecuadorian who played most of his career with Uruguay's Peñarol, is the player who, to this day, has scored more goals in the Copa Libertadores than any footballer. Spencer and his team won the 1st Copa Libertadores in 1960 - then twice more. They beat Eusebio's Benfica. They beat Real Madrid.
Indeed, Spencer won the Copa Libertadores three times. He won the Intercontintal Cup with Peñarol, twice. He won his domestic league over and over.
