Caregiving is hard. Caring for a parent with dementia or memory loss when your relationship is already strained is a whole different emotional and spiritual journey.
In this conversation, I share what it’s really like to navigate family caregiving, boundaries, burnout, and responsibility, and a few things I wish someone had told me sooner. If you’re caring for an aging parent, especially someone with dementia or Alzheimer’s, this is for you.
A few practical takeaways from my experience:
• If a senior in your life goes missing, ask about a Silver Alert immediately so law enforcement treats it as a safety issue, not a criminal one.
• Join a caregiver support group. You don’t get extra points for carrying this alone.
• Tap into your local Alzheimer’s Association or senior care organizations for resources, referrals, and guidance.
If you’re in this season, you’re not alone, you’re not failing, and you’re not weak. You’re doing something incredibly hard, and you deserve support too.
