3D puzzle platformer in the Islamic Golden Age | The House of Hikmah demo

Описание: Tonight we're checking out the demo for The House of Hikmah from Lunacy Studios. This 3D puzzle platformer follows Maya as she enter the House of Wisdom in search of answers after her father's death. Her journey will bring her into contact with some of the biggest figures from the Islamic Golden Age and their discoveries and inventions.

This one was a slow burn for me. The setting is gorgeous and I dig the game's concept, but the demo drops us in the middle of the story and several times references a lesson from a previous chapter to which we're not privy. Some of the tutorials are a bit sparse as well, leaving me having to power through some puzzles via trial and error. Once I got past the rougher early stage and I got a handle on what the game was asking me to do, things flowed much easier and I could focus on the experience instead of getting bogged down in mechanics. It's a pretty brief demo -- as the run time will attest -- but there's enough to keep me interested in where the story is going. The setting is fairly lavish, the story balances between history and fantasy, and I'm always delighted to find games that teach me about cultures and time periods with which I'm unfamiliar.
