As AI moves from experimentation to enterprise-wide adoption, the real transformation is no longer confined to engineering teams. It's showing up in the CEO's agenda and in the culture an organization is willing to build.

World Wide Technology Co-Founder and CEO Jim Kavanaugh describes an AI-first strategy as something leaders must operationalize, not announce. That starts with focus: prioritizing AI infrastructure, adoption methodologies and workforce upskilling as core business priorities, not side projects.

But executives face a credibility gap. Kavanaugh said leaders don't need to be data scientists, yet they can't lead with "authenticity and substance" without spending time with the tools and the people closest to them — testing what works, learning what fails, and translating those lessons into decisions.

The bigger point is cultural: long-term winners won't necessarily be the most advanced AI shops today. They'll be the organizations that adapt faster—ones built to unlearn outdated processes, absorb new capabilities, and embrace continuous change.

That requires transparency about fear and disruption, and clarity about the opportunity. In Kavanaugh's view, AI will reward leaders who pair ambition with guardrails—making selective big bets while governing risk—so innovation accelerates without breaking the enterprise.
