Protesters in Bangkok fanned out across Thailand's capital in a largely peaceful demonstration.
There were minor clashes in one part of the city where police fired water cannons and tear gas.
The demonstrations came two days after a court ousted Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra though her party's caretaker government remains in place.
"We are not the enemy of the police. Our enemy is the Thaksin regime and the Shinawatra family," protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban told the crowd.
