This 1854 Seated Liberty Half Dime in Very Good (VG) condition is valuable, though it’s not considered a rare coin. Its value comes from its age, silver content, and its role in a now-defunct U.S. coin series. Approximately 2.9 million coins were minted. as part of the Seated Liberty series, it is one of the longest-running and most collectible 19th-century U.S. coin designs.
One of the special Features is the Arrows at the date (used from 1853–1855).
Fun Fact: The "arrows at the date" were added in 1853 to reflect a reduction in silver content due to changing metal prices. It is 90% silver.
The value in Good can be up to $20.
The value in Very Good can be up to $35.
The value in Fine or Very Fine can be up to $75.
The value in Extra Fine can be up to $125.
The value in About Uncirculated can be up to $250.
The value in Mint State can be up to $800 or more depending on luster and strike.

If you're unsure of the grade, look for:
The Date is clear.
Liberty’s outline and shield are visible but worn.
The Rim is mostly complete.
The "Arrows-at-date" design is a short-run subtype (only 1853–1855), so type collectors seek it out. The Arrows should be sharp and clear.
