Scottish Water staff walk out and warn of further strike action unless pay dispute is resolved

Описание: Staff at Scottish Water walked out on strike today in a dispute with bosses at the publicly-owned company over pay.

Members of both the GMB and Unite unions downed tools for 24 hours after they were offered a "watered down" increase of just of 3.4 per cent, or £1,050 for those on the lowest grades over a nine month period.

The walk-out disrupted Scottish Water's programme of planned maintenance and its ability to respond to reports of leaks across the network.

Longer strikes are planned for next month if an improved offer is not tabled.
