India was once importing crude at 120 dollars per barrel and was available to paying citizens for Rs. 62 per litre. From 120 dollars per barrel, crude has come down to Rs. 43 per barrel and citizens are still paying anywhere between Rs. 65-70 per litre due to central and state exise duties. Global Crude oil prices have crashed to a 7 month low. Analysts say crude oil prices will dip lower. But do not celebrate just yet, while Global crude oil prices have dropped nearly 8% this year, the benefits have not trickled down. This is despite the government allowing market determined pricing of fuel and daily price revision in key cities. Petrol prices in our big cities do not reflect the decline in global crude prices. To discuss this, MIRROR NOW caught up with Gopal Agarwal: National Spokesperson, BJP; Ali H Daruwala: Spokesperson, All India Petrol Dealers' Association (AIPDA); Ravi Srivastava: Ex.Senior Manager of HPCL; Jyoti Parikh: Executive Director,Integrated Research and Action for Development; Bejon Mishra: Consumer Rights Activist; Akash Jindal: Economist; Sujay Kantawala: Citizen voice. Take a look.
