Описание: Jeremy Holmes is a wood sculptor and designer who graduated from the University of New York at New Paltz with a BFA in sculpture and currently lives and has a studio in Ithaca, NY. Holmes's work emphasizes materiality and an engagement between the viewer, the site, and the work which seeks to evoke a curiosity in a traditional material. His pieces are seen as three-dimensional line drawings in space, the large bent wood installations and sculptures collaborate with unique found architecture to construct a new and unexpected space made by joining long lengths of wood together. Holmes had been a part of numerous public installations and was a 2007 Windgate Fellowship Award Winner, he was recently a part of Torqued and Twisted: A Traveling Bentwood Show. He was the 2012 Featured Artist at Mountain Jam Music Festival, resident Artist at UNC Ashville, and has shown extensively in New York, including at Exhibit A in Corning, the Gowanus Ballroom in Brooklyn, Echo Art Fair in Buffalo and KMOCA in Kingston to name a few. His work has also been shown internationally in the UK, Germany, and Singapore. He has upcoming commissions in Manhattan, NY, Houston, TX, Washington, D.C., and Regensburg Germany, as well as a Solo Exhibition in July 2014 at Exhibit A in Corning. His work can be viewed at www.holmesarts.com.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
