Описание: The ruinous state of Vallay House. Built by the textile manufacturer Erskine Beveridge (1851-1920) on the tidal island of Vallay, North Uist. Beveridge, an antiquarian and photographer, was author of 'North Uist: Its Archaeology and Topography' (1911). His son George drowned in 1944 whilst crossing the strand. A monument to him stands on the west of the island. Since then the house's condition has deteriorated and is now dangerously unsafe. The interior shots were taken through the open windows.
