Turning Split Ends Into Bowl Blanks And Woodturning 1 Of 14 - BLACK WALNUT 9/4 SLABS 🟫➡️🟤✅

Описание: In this video, I check on my stash of Black Walnut 9/4 slabs in the shed and notice that a couple of the slabs have split ends (probably more, but I will process a couple at a time). I haul the slabs to the workshop and cut off the ends with splits. Then I cut out the splits and create as many square bowl blanks as I can for quick turnings This haul yielded (14) total, (8) ~ 5.62", (2) ~ 6”, (1) ~ 8.75” and (3) ~ 11.25”. Afterward I turn a cute little dish from one of the smaller blanks. This is a preview and sort of test of what is to come of all the blanks created from the split ends that I cut off. I use a bowl gouge along with a parting tool, round nose and diamond point scrapers to turn a pleasing shaped bowl with a foot that acts as the tenon for the hollowing. Richard Raffan shows how to do this correctly (and much better than I do) in many of his woodturning videos. I highly recommend you visit his channel and watch his videos to learn more. Sealed all with shellac/DA sanding sealer (50/50 mix)
ACK’S Abrasive/Sanding Paste to make it ultra-smooth all over
Finished with ACK’S Polish/Restoring Paste to make it lustrous
(now with 2 times the carnauba wax)
