Alquezar is a small town cut into the mountain in Aragon, Spain. It was originally built as a strategic defense position by the Muslims. The name Alquezar actually comes from the arabic "Al-Qasr""Fortress." In this video we take a good look around this charming and unique settlement which has been immaculately preserved and modernised without losing it's original character and identity. The architecture is interesting and aesthetically pleasing, the infrastructure is a mix of winding cobbled streets and charismatic alleyways opening up on the periphary to plateaus with expansive, panoramic views over a truly magnificent and very wild natural environment. With vultures soaring overhead you would have absolutely no problem imagining that we were in an oasis in the middle of a desert or even in the "Wild West"

In this series I set out to discover another side of Spain. Far from the cheesy dj's, packed beaches and package holiday culture there is a deeper, more personal and honest identity but i had to go "off the beaten track" to really get to know "The Spain I never knew"
