The tube-assisted lateral bud grafting technique for fruit trees demonstrated in this video is a time-honored yet highly efficient method of asexual propagation.simply use a round tube to align the lateral bud with the rootstock interface, precisely cut out a bud-bearing scion, chisel a matching circular incision at the corresponding position on the rootstock, insert and secure the scion to ensure tight contact between the cambium layers of the scion and rootstock, and you will achieve the seedling cultivation goals of preserving the superior traits of the parent plant and rapidly producing robust seedlings.
The operation steps are as follows:
Select a well-developed lateral bud as the grafting bud. Take a rigid round tube matching the thickness of the lateral bud, slide the tube over the selected bud, and use it as a positioning template. Tap the tube with a hammer so that its edge cuts the bark around the lateral bud.
Carefully remove the circular bark scion with the lateral bud attached.
Next, process the rootstock to be grafted using the same method: use the round tube to chisel a circular hole that perfectly matches the size of the scion, then remove the chiseled circular bark piece. Insert the grafting bud into the hole and seal it firmly with a special grafting film to prevent water loss and pathogen intrusion.
This grafting method boasts a high survival rate. The seedlings cultivated in this way can fully retain the superior fruit traits of the parent plant. They exhibit stable growth after grafting and can quickly adapt to the cultivation environment. Easy to learn and operate, this technique requires readily available materials such as round tubes, making it a practical, cost-effective and highly efficient grafting method.
