Dr Steve Davies (Institute of Economic Affairs) – Lost traditions in Classical Liberalism in the 19th Century.
Steve Davies completed both his undergraduate degree and PhD at the University of St Andrews, earning his doctorate in 1984 for research on the Scottish criminal justice system before 1747. From 1979 to 2009, he taught at Manchester Metropolitan University and held visiting roles at the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) and Bowling Green State University. After working full-time for the IHS, Steve returned to the UK in 2010 to join the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), where he led educational outreach and contributed to research and publications. Since 2016, he has worked independently as a writer, teacher, and tutor for organisations including the IHS, Friedrich Naumann Stiftung, and the John Locke Institute. Steve is the author of several books, including The Wealth Explosion, The Streetwise Guide to the Devil, The Economics and Politics of Brexit, and Apocalypse Next. His forthcoming book with Polity Press explores political realignment and its global impact.
